Whether you are a serious birder or you just enjoy them, birding is great here at Elaine’s Bed and Breakfast.

Former guests Ken and Mary Lou Schneider moved to New Mexico less than a mile away from Elaine’s.

Their Cedar Crest backyard website (www.rosyfinch.com/birdlist.html) lists 120 species of birds that they recorded in their back yard just east of Elaine’s and is a good source to see what birds you can expect to see while visiting.

Guests at Elaine’s can rent a horse next door and take a trail across Elaine’s property into the Cibola National Forest for a trail ride.

Elaine’s Bed and Breakfast is in Sandia Mountains and adjoins the Cibola National Forest so you can hike right from your room into the forest or you can drive a short way to many of the other trails in the Sandia Mountains.

Paa-Ko Ridge Golf Course (www.Paakoridge.com) is located only 5 miles from Elaine’s Bed and Breakfast and in 2000 was listed as #1 best new golf course in America by Golf Digest. 

Many visitors to Albuquerque are unaware that you can get to the ski area without taking a tram from Albuquerque. Elaine’s is located on the green side of the Sandia Mountains and is only 7 miles from the Sandia Mountain Ski area, where you can ski in the winter or mountain bike in the summer. Elaine’s is located near the beginning of the Historic Turquoise Trail the scenic route to Santa Fe  (www.turquoisetrail.org).
